Winter eviction moratorium starts
The winter moratorium on evictions from homes started on November 15 and will last until the end of April, according to the NGO Street Lawyer.
This year, 472 customers looking for legal aid visited the NGO’s office at Blaha Lujza tér in the Eighth District, and 400 people contacted the organisation by e-mail.
A total of 2,305 apartment evictions were carried out last year, and 737 in the first half of this year.
The winter eviction moratorium was launched in 2003. Legal procedures do not stop during these periods, but the implementation of evictions is postponed.
