This became possible when Fidesz lost its majority on the county council during the June election. The opposition parties Momentum, Democratic Coalition and Our Homeland voted for the tax hike. Samsung paid about Ft 7 billion in local tax in 2023. The tax hike still needs to be discussed with the government and the six affected municipalities. If their approval comes only next year, then the tax increase will be effective from 2026 not from 2025.
