Sponsor for Hungarian cycling sought
Slovene cyclist Tadej Pogačar, winner of three of the past four Tour de France contests, was seen wearing the logo of Hungarian oil company MOL while representing his country during the World Road Cycling Championships, raising the question of why MOL is not a sponsor of the Hungarian national team.
Hungarian Cycling Federation president Domonkos Schneller announced at a public event at the Museum of Technology and Transport that the federation is advertising for a main sponsor.
He emphasised the need to approach companies sympathetic to cycling, including MOL.
Schneller expressed hope that MOL, which sponsors Slovenian cycling, might extend its support to Hungarian cycling as well.
Sponsorship funds would primarily benefit youth cycling, focusing on athletes under 15, along with training and travel expenses, he added.
MOL earlier confirmed its sponsorship of the Slovenian team but did not disclose financial details.
Schneller revealed plans for Hungary to bid to host a world cycling championship, details of which will be presented to the federation and the government in the coming weeks.
