Gov’t tells citizens to leave Lebanon

The Hungarian consular service has advised all Hungarian citizens in Lebanon to leave immediately via commercial flights, due to escalating military operations by Israel in Lebanese territory.

The embassy in Beirut is best positioned to assist Hungarian citizens who have registered for consular protection in the event of an emergency.

The consular service urged Hungarians to leave the country while commercial flights are still available.

Hungarian citizens are also advised to follow updates on the consular service website and to use the Konzinfo Travel mobile app for faster access to information.

Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó reported that 426 Hungarians in Israel have registered for consular protection and are urged to contact the embassy in Tel Aviv or the Foreign Ministry’s call centre in case of distress.

He reiterated the importance of registering for consular protection and advised against non-essential travel to the region.
