Record heat followed by snowfall
Another day of record high heat in Hungary was followed by snowfall in the mountains in the north of the country.
Temperatures of 30.2 degrees Celsius were recorded in Kelebia on the Great Plain on Monday, shattering the previous record high for April 1 of 27.7 Celsius, set in 1989.
By Tuesday, snowfall had already arrived at Kékestető mountain, as reported by state meteorologists HungaroMet.
Precipitation transitioning from rain to sleet and eventually pure snow fell on Hungary’s highest hills, accompanied by strong gale-force winds.
