Romania overtakes Hungary in per capita GDP
Romania’s per capita GDP (measured in purchasing power parity) reached 78% of the EU average in 2023, ahead of Hungary’s 76%, Portfolio writes, citing preliminary data from Eurostat.
Croatia’s economic development also reached Hungary’s level in 2023.
Hungary’s economy shrank by 0.9% last year, while Romania’s GDP expanded by 2%.
According to Eurostat, GDP per capita expressed in purchasing power parity was the lowest in Bulgaria at 64% and the highest in Luxembourg at 240%.
