Medical shipment arrives from China

Health protective equipment ordered by the government arrived in Budapest from China early Monday morning, the Innovation and Technology Ministry said in a statement.

A Wizz Air plane left Budapest on March 20 and landed in Shanghai to take on nearly 11 tons of health equipment.

The cargo includes 30,050 items of protective clothing, 82,000 medical masks and coronavirus testing kits.

The plane was received by deputy minister Tamás Schanda, public administrative state secretary Balázs Gazsó and Semmelweis University rector Béla Merkely.

The ministry stressed that the equipment is important in protection against the coronavirus and said the cabinet is doing everything to be able to increase the stockpile.

Another shipment of medical equipment is due to arrive in Budapest in the near future.
