Plane sent for Hungarians stranded in Morocco

The government has sent a special plane to Morocco to bring home 146 Hungarians who were stranded there due to cancelled flights, Foreign Affairs Minister Péter Szijjártó announced on Facebook on Wednesday morning.

He said tens of thousands of foreigners are stranded in the Arab country because of travel restrictions.

Szijjártó agreed with the Moroccan Foreign Minister that the Hungarian plane would land in Marrakech on Thursday morning to pick up the trapped Hungarians before complete airspace closure.

He underlined that this case demonstrates that air travel is becoming increasingly problematic.

Szijjártó urged all Hungarians abroad intending to return home to do so immediately, as international air traffic may completely shut down soon.
