Wizz Air foresees €40mn in losses

Wizz Air expects to suffer €40 million in losses in March, as a result of cancellations due to the coronavirus, according to CEO József Váradi.

He expressed hope that the airline may return to full capacity in July.

Wizz Air has suspended all of its flights to Poland, after Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki banned all international flights from March 15.

The company’s only direct flight between Hungary and Poland linked Budapest to Warsaw, but its other destinations include Cracow, Gdansk, Katowice, Lublin, Poznan, Szczecin, Szymany and Wroclaw.

Wizz Air also suspended its flight from Budapest to Oslo on Friday.

It had already cancelled all of its flights to Italy and Israel last week.
