Tesco ups wages in two phases

Tesco is raising its employees’ salaries in two phases this year, as part of an agreement signed with the retail employees’ unions KASZ and Kdfsz, the retail chain and the unions announced jointly on Wednesday.

The pay increases will add Ft 3.8 billion to the payroll this year.

The lowest gross monthly wage will rise to Ft 275,000 from March 1 and to Ft 289,000 from September 1 to February 28, 2021.

In addition, Tesco will offer more than Ft 4 billion in fringe benefits in 2020.

With these raises, Tesco is paying Ft 7.3 billion more to its workers than two years ago, said CEO Zsolt Pártos of Tesco Magyarország.

The wage hike affects 85% of workers, who will receive at least a 10% wage increase from September, Kdfsz president Csaba Bubenkó noted.
