50 deaths in road accidents this month

Fifty people have been killed in accidents on Hungarian roads so far in October, the National Police announced on Wednesday.

József Óberling, head of traffic law enforcement, said 477 people have died in road accidents in 2019, fewer than in recent years.

However, the number of traffic fatalities has soared considerably in recent months, with more than 90% of those attributed to a lack of attention, violations of rules and unnecessary risk taking.

Óberling said that in his opinion everybody should take a drivers’ education course to learn how to react in certain traffic situations.
