Pilot training centre planned for Hévíz

Norway’s Pilot Fight Academy yesterday signed a letter of intent with the Innovation and Technology Ministry in Hévíz on establishing a pilot training centre at the airport of the resort town.

The €15 million international training centre will provide education for students from the Visegrád countries from 2020, state secretary László György said at the signing ceremony.

The EU needs 7,000 pilots but European courses are able to train only half of them, he underlined.

The academy in Norway educates 350 students now, said head of the institute Frode Granlund, adding that the centre in Hungary will start with 60 students.

Students of the future Hungarian centre may obtain both commercial pilot licence and airline transport pilot licence certificates.

The academy is negotiating with five airlines on providing jobs for future graduates.
