60 people died in a month in road accidents

Sixty people died in road accidents in the past month, a fatal accident rate not experienced in decades, National Police transportation director József Óberling told state television station M1 on Thursday.

Óberling said the increase in fatalities can be attributed to “moral decline” as pedestrians, cyclists and drivers alike are becoming less attentive and average speeds are on the rise.

He stressed that apart from observing traffic rules, drivers should give more respect to one another to prevent accidents.
