LOT launches flight to Seoul

Polish airline LOT launched its Budapest-Seoul flights on Sunday, CEO Rafal Milczarski announced at a press conference.

This is the first LOT flight to the East from the Liszt Ferenc International Airport in Budapest. Starting the flight was difficult and LOT needed the help of the Hungarian Foreign Ministry, Milczarski underlined.

LOT flies three times a week to the South Korean capital but would like to increase this number to five or six before long.

LOT has doubled its capacity in Budapest over recent years, to an annual 400,000 passengers and it will soon become the largest conventional airline in the Hungarian capital, said Budapest Airport CEO Rolf Schnitzler.

There are some 80,000 passengers flying between Budapest and Seoul annually.

In the absence of a Hungarian airline, LOT plays this role in Budapest, said Foreign Affairs and Trade Ministry state secretary Levente Magyar.
