MÁV cancels trains over lack of drivers

The state passenger railway company MÁV cancelled four suburban commuter trains Wednesday due to a lack of drivers, the mass transit advocacy group KTE reported on Thursday.

The cancelled trains were to run evening return routes from Budapest to Pécel, a suburb of Budapest.

MÁV cancelled another 30 trains in August due to a lack of personnel, the company reported earlier.

KTE will stage a demonstration at Keleti Railway Station in Budapest at 6 p.m. on September 26 in protest of systemic problems at MÁV.
