Stench returns to Budaörs

An unpleasant odour of fertiliser has once again covered the Budapest suburb of Budaörs, independent mayor Tamás Wittinghoff wrote on his Facebook page on Tuesday.

No authorities seem ready to address the issue, he commented.

A similar stench covered the town in August, when the smell was also reported in the capital.

On that occasion, PMO state secretary Balázs Orbán named a non-existent company as responsible for the odour, alleging that a Russian fertiliser had been spread on fields in the area near Felcsút. That explanation later proved to be a hoax.
