Suzuki models rule car market

Suzuki Vitara is clearly the biggest star of Hungary’s surging new car market with sales just short of 10,000 in the first eight months, or 8% of the total.

Total car sales in Hungary were up 24% year-on-year last month to 18,271, which is 76% higher than same-period figures from 2017.

In the first eight months, car sales totalled 123,288, placing 2019 on track to beat last year’s record sales of 159,324.

Suzuki remains the favourite car of Hungarian households. Sales of the Japanese car maker surged 46% year-on-year to 20,082. Ranked second was Ford (14,511) followed by Opel (8,937) and Volkswagen (8,807).

Suzuki’s Vitara and SX S-Cross models were by far the most popular models, with sales rising to 9,259 and 7,628, respectively. The Skoda Octavia was in third place with 4,893.
