Home sales drop as households wait

Home sales in Hungary were down 20% year-on-year to 10,542 in June, property broker chain Duna House announced on Friday.

Households postponed purchases ahead of the new family benefit scheme, including interest-free loans and subsidies for the purchase of old homes, which came into effect on July 1, Duna House said.

Transactions were split equally between the first and second quarters.

The average price per square metre flats in Budapest was in the Ft 517,000-582,000 range in the second quarter.
