V-Tel launches mobile service

After years of preparation, V-Telecom Hungary (V-Tel) launched its mobile services on July 1, the company announced on Thursday.

The company, which claims it has nationwide coverage, aims to generate Ft 450 million in revenue in the next 12 months.

CEO Krisztián Kupai said pre-paid cards will be available from V-Tel points in all settlements with at least 2,000 inhabitants.

With the emergence of a new service with national coverage, he said, rearrangements can be expected on the telecoms market, as the needs of smaller local communities are finally receiving special attention.

The company also plans to allow customers to buy pre-paid cards on the internet.

The basic fee is Ft 3,500, while V-Tel users can talk to one another for free.

The Ft 7,999 package includes unlimited duration for all domestic landline and mobile calls.
