City’s longest tram line completed

The new 1.7km section of Budapest’s No. 1 tram line linking Fehérvári út and Etele tér is to be officially opened today.

The new track links the tram line to Etele tér, a transport hub for Kelenföld train station, regional buses, metro line M4 and tram lines 19 and 49.

The project is supported by Ft 8 billion from the EU Cohesion Fund.

Tram 1 is the longest line in Budapest, at 18.3km, including the new section.

The line runs from Kelenföld train station to Pest, along Hungária körút and across the Árpád Bridge to Óbuda.
