Pécs launches city bike system

The city of Pécs launched its public bike sharing system on Thursday, local website Szabad Pécs reported.

The opening is nearly a year behind schedule, as there is no agreement with the supplier Cycleme Bérkerékpár Rendszerek on Ft 10 million of default interest, said mayor Zsolt Páva.

Esztergom-based Cycleme has built seven docking stations and purchased 70 bicycles from Neuzer, a family business in Esztergom.

Pécs won an EU subsidy for the Ft 160 million project.

E.ON launched its Blinkee electric scooter system in the city a few weeks ago.
