NAV summons Two-Tailed Dog Party

The National Tax and Customs Office (NAV) has summoned the executive committee of the Two-Tailed Dog Party for “breaching legal regulations pertaining to counterfeiting of legal tender by unidentified persons”, party president Gergely Kovács told Népszava on Monday.

Kovács said the summons probably involves fake banknotes featuring George Soros that the party distributed by the tens of thousands in recent months.

He said a lawyer had warned them that it was possible they would be reported for counterfeiting, but that they were sure to win a lawsuit because the banknotes look quite different from the originals.

The series of bogus banknotes were printed on thick paper and feature such opposition figures as student Blanka Nagy, activist Márton Gulyás, Democratic Coalition MP László Varju, George Soros and European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker.

Kovács said his party would appear at NAV but will not admit to counterfeiting.
