Commissioner to oversee students’ trips abroad

High school students can apply for government grants from the next school year to cover the costs of studying a foreign language abroad, Fidesz MP Mónika Bartos announced.

The cost is nearly Ft 650,000 per person, for two trips abroad, each of two weeks’ duration, to certain countries during the summer holidays.

Bartos has been appointed government commissioner for organising the courses open to students attending the ninth and eleventh grades.

She told reporters that the purpose of the courses is to help young people gain as much proficiency and experience as possible in a second language.

The government will sponsor students’ visits to the United Kingdom, Ireland, Malta, France, Austria, Germany and China.
