Hungarian suspect caught in Mexico

A Hungarian wanted for an attempted murder in 2001 is facing charges in a Hungarian court after he was caught in Mexico last summer.

He checked in under a false name to a hotel on Rácz Aladár utca in the 12th District, to carry out thefts with two other men.

He injured the owner in a scuffle then repeatedly stabbed the hotel clerk in his chest and abdomen, causing critical injuries.

The clerk was saved by speedy medical intervention.

Detectives from the National Bureau of Investigation caught the man in Mexico with help from Mexican and American authorities on June 27, 2018.
