Deaths from exposure surpass 160

A total of 164 people died of exposure in Hungary from last September to March 8, the Hungarian Social Forum announced on Sunday, citing reliable sources.

Of those, 29 died of exposure between February 20 and March 8.

Most of the victims died in unheated homes, during transportation to hospital or afterwards.

An estimated 36% of victims succumb to the cold in the outdoors.

About 200 people froze to death in Hungary, last winter, the NGO said.
