Consumers hopeful of buying cars

A new survey indicates that 9% of households are planning to purchase cars in the coming three years, economic research company GKI reports.

In practical terms, this means 373,000 households buying 125,000 cars annually, of which 23% will be new cars.

Among car purchases, 71% will be fuelled by petrol, 24% by diesel and 5% will be hybrid and electric cars.

The inclination to buy a vehicle is strongest among people living in rural towns and persons in their 30s.
