Hankook union prepares for strike

The union representing employees of the Hankook tyre factory in Dunaújváros has launched a strike process, citing the company management’s lack of readiness to negotiate.

In the first step in the process, compulsory talks are set to start on March 4.

If demands are not met then the union will call a strike within seven days.

The union is seeking an 18% wage increase and a new bonus and loyalty scheme, with a further 5% for those working on weekends.

Hankook failed to pay promised year-end bonuses last year and informed workers only just before Christmas, Index adds.
