MTelekom cuts off village

Magyar Telekom has cancelled all fixed-line telephone subscriptions for households in the village of Szentkatalin, Baranya county, RTL Klub reported on Tuesday.

The village has 130 inhabitants and the company has cancelled its service to 30 homes, because it did not wish to invest in the development of the fixed-line network.

A public phone booth and the local government office is still connected via land lines.

In addition, the mobile-phone network is not reliable as the village is located in a valley, according to the report.

Magyar Telekom has been fined for unilaterally cancelling contracts, but this does not help village residents, RTL added.
