Media campaign costs near Ft 57bn

The Cabinet Office, run by Antal Rogán, is spending Ft 10 billion on the new anti-EU poster campaign featuring pictures of George Soros and European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker, website g7 reports.

This brings the total spent on such campaigns in the past two years to Ft 56.6 billion, or one quarter of the sum spent on secondary level education in 2018, the website adds.

A related contract, signed at the start of January but made public only now, is the 13th similar agreement and the largest to date.

However, the question of exactly where this money goes remains a mystery, as Rogán’s office – widely known as the “propaganda ministry” – goes to great trouble to make it impossible to see which campaign is financed from which contract.

Despite several requests, the Office has not provided a meaningful answer, g7 writes.

The description of the tasks is not specific in the latest contract, either. Although the tasks to be accomplished are detailed on six pages in a supplement to the contract, practically nothing emerges clearly.

It is only possible to ascertain that the number of campaigns costing Ft 10 billion is somewhere between one and ten.

The 14-page agreement is in force in theory until the end of the year, but, based on experience, it is nearly certain that Rogán’s office will spend the funds much sooner.
