NVI informs EU citizens of voting rights

The nearly 113,000 EU citizens domiciled in Hungary have been informed by the National Election Committee (NVI) that they can vote for Hungarian party lists at the European Parliament elections in May, the NVI said.

Those eligible can be registered on voters lists prepared by the local electoral office by May 10.

The NVI has sent out letters of notification in Hungarian, English, German and French.

Applications can also be submitted on the website www.valasztas.hu.

Those who wish to be deleted from the local voters list must notify authorities by May 16.

At the 2014 European Parliament elections the NVI sent out more than 100,000 notices to EU citizens living in Hungary, of whom 718 registered to vote.
