Investors buy half of homes in capital

More than half of those buying homes in Budapest in the past two months made the purchase for investment purposes, property agency Duna House announced on Friday.

Home purchases made for investment purposes accounted for 31-46% of all transactions in the past two years, but rose to 53% in December and 54% last month.

Investors look for homes of 50-60m2 costing Ft 36-40 million. Such properties immediately appear on the rental market after the sale.

First-time buyers, who make 20-25% of purchases, search for less expensive homes.
