Charity food bank expands

Magyar Élelmiszerbank increased the amount of excess food it collected and redistributed by 20% to 11,000 tons in 2018, the charity food bank announced on Monday.

The value of the food it provided for those in need was Ft 6.5 billion.

The food bank worked with 350 partner organisations as its distributors.

Some 90% of the food was collected from four large retail chains and the rest from 70 food processors and wholesalers.

The food bank provides regular catering for 180,000 people as well as help for an additional 120,000 persons.
