Two arrested after protest

Police detained two men on Saturday following Saturday’s demonstration in Budapest, one for assaulting a cameraman, the other for pushing a police officer.

At the rally outside the Várkert Bazár on the Buda riverside, a 37-year-old man swore at an Echo TV crew and then tried to knock the camera out of the hands of a cameraman.

The assailant was detained and questioned on suspicion of hooliganism.

After the organiser of the rally declared it finished, a group of pedestrians hindered traffic on the Chain Bridge. Police repeatedly told the group that their conduct was unlawful.

Police eventually carried away several people who were sitting on the road, blocking traffic.

One member of the group pushed a police officer from behind, knocking him to the ground. The man was caught not far away.
