NAV inspectors mostly find tax fraud

Criminal inspectors of the tax authority NAV detected 5,956 crime cases in 2018, it was announced on Wednesday.

Among the criminal cases discovered, 38.3% were tax frauds, 10% were fraudulent bankruptcies and 7.4% were violations of accounting rules.

Another 6.2% were violations of business patents, and 4.4% involved the sale of stolen goods.

Indictments were initiated in 55% of the cases detected.

Organised criminal groups were behind 51 cases, causing Ft 40.3 billion in damage, 52.5% of the total damage.
