Gundel cooks for Orbán’s office

The Gundel restaurant has won the catering contract for the new Prime Minister’s Office in Buda Castle, HVG reports.

Gundel has recently signed new chef Zsolt Litauszki, who has been given the task of upgrading the restaurant, which has fallen behind the finest Hungarian restaurants, but still prides itself on its illustrious past.

The cheapest meal at the restaurant costs Ft 6,000 and the most expensive Ft 16,500.

Shortly after the HVG article was posted, one of Viktor Orbán’s people called HVG and sent photographs showing that the daily menu at the PMO consists of simple traditional dishes at reasonable prices.

For example, a smoked pork and bean soup costs only Ft 300 and a slice of roast pork Ft 800.

The office issued a picture of Orbán eating a simple lunch with PMO leader Gergely Gulyás.

Litauszki has been successful in building up a number of restaurants.
