Hosszú to swim for Budapest’s FTC

World champion swimmer Katinka Hosszú will join the Ferencváros athletic club (FTC) in January, Magyar Idők reports.

FTC executive vice-president, Zoltán Nyíri who was elected in October, is a big fan of water sports and would like to create a strong swimming section.

FTC is also signing European champion and world silver medallist Dávid Verrasztó and Liliána Szilágyi.

Hosszú was elected the world’s best female swimmer for the fourth time last weekend.

Magyar Idők writes that the club and the athlete began talks in August and a contract will soon be signed.

In swimming, just as in football, there are two periods for signing new players, and one of them is in January.

Hosszú founded her own club, Iron Swim, in late July.
