Vodafone repaying customers

GVH will not issue a fine to Vodafone as the telecoms company has agreed to repay money wrongly taken from its clients, the competition authority announced yesterday.

The decision will cost Vodafone several million forints, HVG writes.

Between November 1, 2012 and May 1, 2014, Vodafone cancelled all outstanding balances on clients’ accounts 30 days after they switched to the RED VitaMax option.

This violated rules, as Vodafone had not properly notified its subscribers about its actions.

With the RED VitaMax product, clients have 30-day periods in which to use up pre-paid money which otherwise is lost. This rule also applied to money carried over from the previous subscription.

Vodafone is now repaying the money if the sum is over Ft 100 and the client is still a subscriber of the company.
