Chain Bridge turning blue for Scotland

The Chain Bridge will be bathed in the blue and white colours of the Scottish flag on Friday and Saturday evening, to mark St. Andrew’s Day, honouring Scotland’s patron saint.

British ambassador Iain Lindsay will host a ceremony with a bagpiper on hand at 4:15 p.m. today on the Pest side of the bridge.

Construction of the bridge, designed by Englishman William Tierney Clark, was overseen by Scottish engineer Adam Clark, who stayed on in Hungary.

The bridge will be covered in blue lighting from 4 p.m. to midnight on both Friday and Saturday.
