DK pays homeless man’s fine

The Democratic Coalition party has paid the Ft 20,000 fine meted out to a man in Gödöllő who was the first to be penalised for living on public area.

Police had proposed 30-day confinement but a court secretary in Gödöllő only reprimanded him, a punishment accepted by all parties. However, the man had to pay the misdemeanour costs.

Democratic Coalition spokesman Sándor Rónai told reporters on Friday that the party aims to preserve Hungary’s humane character, so it is a matter of course to help poor, defenceless people.
