Bath reopened after Ft 4bn overhaul

Spa operator Budapest Gyógyfürdői (BGYH) last week inaugurated a 7,800m2 spa building completed after an investment of Ft 3.9 billion at the Csillaghegy Bath in the city’s Third District.

Budapest’s oldest open-air bath underwent a major reconstruction as new pools were installed and new fitness and wellness centres were installed, financed by the city council and city-owned company BGYH.

The investment fits in with the city’s plans to convert outdoor swimming pools to year-round spas, mayor István Tarlós said at the ceremony.

The capacity of the spa was expanded to host up to 1,500 visitors a day.
