Hungary excels in battery recycling

Hungary is a European leader in the recycling of batteries, as 53% of batteries sold here are recycled, according to Eurostat data.

Belgium leads the list with 71% of all batteries recycled in 2016, followed by Luxembourg with 63%, and Hungary in third, ahead of the EU average of 44%.

At the bottom of the list is Romania with 21% recycling, although this figure is for 2015. Cyprus is the second worst, with 28% in 2016 and Croatia recycled only 29% of batteries in 2015.
