Puskás Academy unveils new facility

The Puskás Ferenc Football Academy dedicated a Ft 12.5 billion multi-purpose sports hall and conference centre in Prime Minister Viktor Orbán’s home town of Felcsút, Fejér county, on Saturday.

The new academy is not only for academy students, as physical education classes will also be held there for local secondary school students, Magyar Idők writes. Matches for local children’s teams taking part in the Bozsik programme, training camps will be held and the Physical Education University will have special classes, it added.

The complex was opened by Orbán and Lőrinc Mészáros, president of the Foundation for the Education of Felcsút Young Players. Orbán called the development of young players Hungary’s “number one national cause”.

The new complex was built on a site of just under one hectare, and 30% funded by the academy as well as via a corporate tax loophole scheme.
