Haulers suggest price hike

International hauler company association NiT Hungary and the domestic hauler association MKFE issued a joint statement yesterday recommending a unified 15-20% price hike.

They cited rising fuel prices, higher road fees, vehicle part price hikes and labour supply shortages as justifications.

It is necessary to raise prices immediately, because otherwise the supply of goods in the autumn will suffer, said MKFE general secretary Tivadar Árvay.

The aim is not excessive profits but securing survival with a fair 10% profit margin, MKFE president György Szabó added.

NiT Hungary chief Gábor Dittel highlighted a three-fold rise in insurance fees.

The NiT said it is impossible to hire a truck diver for less than Ft 450,000 a month.
