Danube temperature high at Paks

The website Átlátszó and Energiaklub measured water temperatures above 30C in several points in the Danube on Friday, below the cooling water drainage channel of the Paks nuclear power plant.

The website reported that the temperature of the river was 25-26C just a few kilometres north of the power plant at the same time.

The relevant ministry decree states that the temperature of the water within 500 metres of the discharge point may not exceed 30C.

Environmentalist association Energiaklub, which popularises alternative energy sources, attempted to obtain information about the temperature of the Danube from the nuclear plant by submitting an application for data of public interest, but no answer was provided.
