Ryanair flight unable to carry baggage

Low cost airline Ryanair refused to carry all the baggage of passengers travelling from Budapest to Las Palmas on a Sunday flight, Index learned from a traveller.

Passengers were given a choice of flying to the Canary Islands and waiting until Wednesday for their baggage to follow or getting off the plane with their baggage.

In response, outraged passengers blocked the aircraft’s path. Police were called to the scene.

Finally, Ryanair promised to deliver the luggage on Sunday night or Monday. Passengers were given the opportunity to retrieve basic necessities from their luggage on the tarmac.

A similar situation occurred a week ago, with the difference that passengers were not told in advance that their belongings would follow them three days later.

Passengers were told that the aircraft was overweight, prompting Index to suggest that Ryanair is probably using an aircraft that is not suitable for this flight.

The airline did not comment on the incident.
