Hernádi trial starts in Zagreb

The criminal case against MOL chairman and CEO Zsolt Hernádi has its first hearing at the Zagreb County Court on Wednesday, news website 24 learned.

Hernádi is accused of bribing then prime minister Ivo Sanader in 2009 with €10 million to allow MOL to obtain management control over Croatian oil company INA, in which MOL had the largest but not a 50% stake.

The court is under time pressure, because the charges expire if it does not deliver a ruling by July 2019.

Hernádi will certainly not participate in the hearing, website 24 says. He rejected the summons from the Croatian court and Hungarian authorities have not extradited him to Croatia.
