Gold Museum villa sold cheaply

The former Gold Museum on Andrássy út in Budapest was sold for Ft 1.7 billion at the end of 2017, Napi learned on Monday.

It was sold by the Hungarian Indochina Association, associated with museum founder István Zelnik, which is under liquidation.

Zelnik spent Ft 2.5 billion on renovating the villa. He unsuccessfully tried to sell the museum and its collection for Ft 15 billion in 2014.

The liquidator tried and failed to sell the building for Ft 2.5 billion three years ago.

The villa has been sold to Dragon Master, a subsidiary of the Hong Kong company Rose Investment.
