Frida Kahlo exhibition coming soon

Alongside more than 30 paintings and graphic designs by Mexican painter Frida Kahlo, photographs of the artist and a love letter written in Hungarian will be on display when an exhibition arranged by the Museum of Fine Arts and the Hungarian National Gallery opens on July 7.

Members of the board of trustees of Mexico’s Dolores Olmedo Museum are still in Hungary helping to put the exhibition together.

Kahlo painted 250 works in her lifetime, 80 self-portraits among them.

In her final years Kahlo considered herself partly Hungarian and claimed that her photographer father who had emigrated from Baden Baden to Mexico was half Hungarian.

Kahlo wrote a love letter to photographer Nickolas Muray in Hungarian and that letter will also be on show at the exhibition.
