Children’s ward closes due to lack of staff

Due to a lack of personnel, healthcare services have been suspended for an unspecified period of time from February 23 at the baby and children’s ward of the Sátoraljaújhely hospital and at the children’s outpatient clinic, the hospital said on its website.

Healthcare services continue to be provided at the gynaecology ward for newborn babies, but with help from doctors from the town, it added.

The relevant state secretary has named the Borsod county central hospital as the institute to provide healthcare services for the patients, meaning that ill children need to be taken to Miskolc, which is more than 80 kilometres away.

Healthcare services are expected to resume at the children’s ward on Monday, the hospital’s director said on Sunday evening.
