Referendum on party zone fails

Sunday’s local referendum on forcing bars in the Seventh District “party zone” to close at midnight failed due to low turnout, as only about 20% of eligible voters took part.

Of those who turned out, two-thirds voted in favour of the restriction, according to HVG.

The Association for a Living Erzsébetváros, an initiator of the referendum, said its petition on finding a dialogue-based solution had been signed by more than 50,000 Seventh District residents, more than six times as many as voted on Sunday.
